March 5th, 2012

Today, March 5th marks the Girls Scouts of America’s 100th Anniversary!

“I’ve got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we’re going to start it tonight!” On March 12, 1912, Juliette Low gathered 18 girls to register the first two patrols of American Girl Guides. Margaret “Daisy Doots” Gordon, her niece and namesake, was the first registered member. The name of the organization was changed to Girl Scouts the following year. “And the other greatest Sisterhood on the planet was born!

And the rest, as they say, is history! 4 million members and a WHOLE lotta cookies later, the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low is a MUST-SEE in Savannah! In honor of this amazing SISTERHOOD,  we are sharing some badge-worthy ideas of our own!

For the month of March enjoy THIN MINT YOGURT at Seaside Sweets! And, in case you’d like to earn your “Martini Badge”, check out the following recipe for the Dirty Girl Scout Martini!

1 oz. vodka

1 oz. Kahlua Coffee Liqueur

1 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream (tis  St. Patty’s Day)

1 oz. White Creme de Menthe

Mix the vodka, Kahlua and Bailey’s and pour over ice. Pour the Creme de Menthe down the center of the glass.
